| Additional Information on Eligibility: | DOI’s Minority Serving Institutions are encouraged to apply for funding. An Eligible Applicant is limited to not-for-profit IRS 501(c)(3) status organizations that meets the following conditions:(a) Provide proof of non-profit IRS 501(c)(3) status as determined by the Internal Revenue Service of non-profit organizations and institutions.(b) Demonstrate established access to AmeriCorps positions through partnership with the Corporation for National and Community Service or other intermediary organization.(c) Manage and carry out all administrative functions associated with projects funded under this program, including maintaining all administrative records required for operation and management of the program.(d) Exhibit the organizational capacity to oversee AmeriCorps participants locally and across the country.(e) Demonstrate established access to AmeriCorps positions through partnership with the Corporation for National and Community Service or other intermediary organization.(f) Demonstrate a history of overseeing national teams or programs. |

The OSMRE/AmeriCorps Program is designed to partner with eligible applicants that have access to AmeriCorps State and National (hereinafter referred to as AmeriCorps) positions through partnership with the Corporation for National and Community Service, or other intermediary organization, to administer the OSMRE/AmeriCorps Program. The OSMRE/AmeriCorps Program was developed to provide an opportunity for OSMRE to increase its engagement with young people with university or vocational degrees. Recipients of OSMRE/AmeriCorps Program financial assistance will support an innovative partnership, working directly with OSMRE in the following areas: (1) community and environmental reclamation, (2) community environmental stewardship, (3) economic improvement, (4) educational opportunities, (5) research, (6) geographic information systems, (7) mapping, and more. The program places recent graduates from colleges, universities and/or vocational schools as AmeriCorps Members in OSMRE Headquarters, Regional and Field Offices to service for a period of up to two years to gain experience working at OSMRE and the Federal government. An AmeriCorps Member is an individual who engages in national service through an activity approved by the Corporation for National and Community Service, or an intermediate organization. Members receive a living allowance and other benefits while serving. Upon successful completion of their service, Members may earn a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award from the National Service Trust that Members can use to pay for higher education expenses or apply to qualified student loans. |
