This OVC grant is for the purpose of critically examining and bridging the gap between victim-related research and its practical application within victim services. A single cooperative agreement, totaling $750,000, will support a comprehensive assessment. This assessment will ascertain victim service providers’ current awareness and knowledge regarding the benefits of social science research and program evaluation for their work. Concurrently, it will evaluate researchers’ interest in, and capacity for, effectively translating their academic findings for a practitioner audience. The outcomes of this crucial project will directly inform OVC’s future plans, aiming to significantly improve communication channels and foster robust collaboration between victim service researchers and practitioners nationwide, enhancing evidence-based support for victims of crime.
