The Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) is offering a cooperative agreement of $1,250,000. This grant aims to support the examination, assessment, identification, and pilot testing of evidence-based policies and practices. The purpose is to foster a comprehensive understanding and approach to addressing vicarious (or secondary) traumatic stress. This vital initiative targets victim assistance professionals, law enforcement personnel, and other first responders. These individuals are frequently exposed to traumatic stress resulting from large-scale criminal mass violence or numerous accumulated traumatizing incidents. The funding will develop protocols to mitigate the impact of such exposures, improving support for those on the front lines. Applicants should prepare well before the June 13, 2013, deadline.
