Description: | OVW has posted an update to the FY 2016 Justice for Families (JFF) Grant Program solicitation on Grants.gov and the OVW website with the following two changes:
The deadline to submit applications has been extended to 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time (ET) on January 21, 2016. Grants.gov has announced a maintenance outage and plans to be offline from Saturday, Jan. 16th at 12:01 am until Tuesday, Jan 19th at 6:00 am. Extending this deadline will allow applicants to begin the submission process at least 48 hours prior to the deadline as recommended by OVW. “Batterer intervention programs” has been removed from the list of Out of Scope Activities for all applicants (page 5 of solicitation). Supporting batterer intervention programs is an allowable activity under the FY 2016 JFF Grant Program. ———— The Grants to Support Families in the Justice System program (referred to as the Justice for Families Program) was authorized in the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act (VAWA) of 2013 to improve the response of all aspects of the civil and criminal justice system to families with a history of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking, or in cases involving allegations of child sexual abuse. The program supports the following activities for improving the capacity of communities and courts to respond to families affected by the four crimes: court-based and court-related programs; supervised visitation and safe exchange by and between parents; training and technical assistance for people who work with families in the court system; civil legal services; provision of resources in juvenile court matters; and development or promotion of legislation, model codes, policies, and best practices. |
