This grant from the Park Economic Impact Division is for the purpose of updating the system-wide estimates of the economic impacts of national parks on local economies for Fiscal Year 2011. The project involves a thorough revision of the Money Generation Model 2 (MGM2) by updating its spending profiles and multipliers. The primary objective is to accurately estimate both direct and secondary economic impacts resulting from visitor spending and park payrolls across all national parks. This will be achieved by leveraging comprehensive recreation visit and payroll data collected in Fiscal Year 2010, ensuring a robust and current assessment of the parks’ economic contributions.

| Additional Information on Eligibility: | This is a "Notice of Intent" of a single source task agreement award to Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI under the Great Lakes Northern Forest Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (CESU). This task provides the next logical step in an ongoing project that takes advantage of unique skills, contacts, experience, and resources available to the principal investigator, including access to important economic data at little or no cost that others would have to pay substantial amounts for. Therefore, it would be completely cost ineffective to move this project elsewhere. This PI at Michigan State University, has excellent professional and institutional capability and experience to provide all of the skills needed to perform the scope of work. The PI’s current research specializes in visitor spending and economic impacts of recreation and tourism. |
