Description: The purpose of this program is to support the adequate staffing of health care facilities at the local, regional, and national level in South Africa to deliver quality HIV prevention, care and treatment. With an estimated 5.7 million persons with HIV infection in South Africa and a rising incidence of tuberculosis of greater than 1000 cases /100,000 population/ year, South Africa has the world’s greatest burden of HIV infection and tuberculosis. The human resources required to identify, provide care and treatment for those patients are substantial. Current human resources available within the public medical system of South Africa are inadequate.
