This PEPFAR grant is for the purpose of strengthening HIV strategic information within the Republic of Mali. The program will provide crucial technical assistance and training to USG partners and the Malian government, particularly the Ministry of Health’s Coordinating Committee for HIV/AIDS (CSLS). The aim is to enhance the design, implementation, and evaluation of HIV/AIDS programs through expanded surveillance activities. This includes geographical scale-up and capacity building across all health system levels, with a significant focus on bio-behavioral surveillance among most at-risk populations. These strategic information efforts will better inform responses from the CSLS, Ministry of Health, and other donors to the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Mali.

Description: | The purpose of this program is to strengthen HIV strategic information in Mali by providing technical assistance and training to USG partners and the government of Mali in designing and implementing enhanced surveillance activities, and monitoring and evaluating existing HIV/AIDS programs. Specifically, this program seeks to expand existing HIV surveillance activities in Mali, as well as to enhance management and support of surveillance data by the Coordinating Committee for HIV/AIDS within the Ministry of Health (CSLS). This expansion will comprise geographical scale up, as well as technical capacity building in order to reach all the levels of the health system. Of particular importance will be bio-behavioral surveillance among most at risk populations (MARPs). These strategic information activities will help better inform the CSLS, Ministry of health (MoH), and other donorsÂ’ responses to the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Mali. |
