PMWRA’s Quick Reaction Force Initiative: Grant SFOP0010140 for Conventional Weapons Destruction

The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Political-Military Affairs, Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement (PM/WRA), has released a significant grant opportunity under the number SFOP0010140, titled “24.PMWRA.QuickReactionForce.NOFO.” This initiative, with an award ceiling of $800,000, focuses on the establishment of a Quick Reaction Force (QRF) capable of addressing conventional weapons destruction (CWD)-related emergencies globally. This program reflects a strategic move by the U.S. government to mitigate the dangers posed by unexpected munitions depot explosions, ammunition depots at risk of imminent explosion, and unexploded ordnance (UXO)/explosive remnants of war (ERW) that threaten civilian safety.

Set to close for applications on January 28, 2024, this cooperative agreement aims to enable a rapid response capacity to tackle urgent CWD challenges worldwide. Eligible organizations, including U.S.-based and foreign NGOs, educational institutions, and for-profit entities (who choose to forgo profit), are invited to submit applications. The Quick Reaction Force project is designed to significantly reduce the harmful effects of CWD-related emergencies during the fiscal years 2024 and 2025.
