Additional Information

Agency Name: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention – ERA
Description: Each year, approximately 6,500 persons with HIV living in prison facilities are released to the community, often lacking support for ongoing HIV care. There is a paucity of programming for this population that demonstrates effective retention in HIV care and sustained HIV viral suppression after release. The use of long-acting injectable antiretroviral therapy (LAI-ART) prior to and at the time of release from prison may improve adherence to HIV treatment, retention in care, and maintenance of viral load suppression among persons reentering the community.  The primary purpose of this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is to support the development and implementation of effective, sustainable, replicable LAI-ART programs for prison facilities and to understand the feasibility and acceptability of providing LAI-ART to persons with HIV living in prisons who are to be released to the community.  Applied qualitative and quantitative research resulting from this funding is expected to strengthen adherence to ART.
