Reclamation’s Native American Affairs-Technical Assistance Program is offering this grant to the Hualapai Tribe to enhance the maintenance and management of their water infrastructure. This grant is specifically for re-routing and burying or covering two sections of the existing water pipeline that traverses the Truxton Wash on the Hualapai Reservation near Peach Springs. The pipeline is crucial, supplying water to over two dozen troughs and storage tanks for cattle and wildlife. The purpose of this re-alignment is to mitigate recurrent damage and water waste caused by flood events, which often wash away or break the exposed pipeline, and to prevent freezing and breakage during winter months, ensuring a reliable water supply.

Description: | This Grant Agreement (Agreement) is provided under ReclamationÂ’s Native American Affairs-Technical Assistance Program to the Hualapai Tribe (Tribe) to better assist in the maintenance and management of the water infrastructure on the Hualapai Reservation. The primary objective of the proposed work is to re-route and bury or cover two portions of the water pipeline that crosses the Truxton Wash on the Hualapai Reservation near Peach Springs. The pipeline supplies water to more than two dozen water troughs and storage tanks that provide water for cattle and wildlife. The pipeline will be re-aligned to avoid the wash, as during flood events the pipeline is often damaged and/or washed away, resulting in regular replacement and water waste. Additionally, during the winter, the exposed pipe sections can freeze and break resulting in further replacement and waste. |
