This grant is for determining the feasibility of chemically treating concentrated Nanofiltration waste streams and furthering the understanding of single base ion exchange (SBIX) regeneration and associated waste management challenges. Reclamation is keenly interested in collaborating with the University of California Davis (UCD) to achieve these objectives. UCD possesses the highly specialized advanced instrumentation, along with the deep analytical capabilities and process expertise specifically required for this project. These essential resources, particularly for the comprehensive analytical analysis and chemical treatment of concentrated waste brine, cannot be adequately fulfilled by commercial entities or other Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (CESU) network partners, making UCD the uniquely qualified institution for this vital research.
