SAMHSA is offering this grant to promote resilience, trauma-informed approaches, and equity in communities that have recently experienced civil unrest, community violence, or collective trauma within the last 24 months. This grant is for the purpose of assisting high-risk youth and families through the implementation of evidence-based violence prevention and community youth engagement programs. SAMHSA expects these initiatives to be guided by a robust community-based coalition. This coalition should comprise diverse stakeholders including residents, non-profit organizations, health and human service providers, schools, institutions of higher education, faith-based organizations, businesses, and various state and local government agencies. The program aims to create more resilient communities capable of addressing the aftermath of significant traumatic events effectively.
