Additional Information

Agency Name: Fish and Wildlife Service
Description: The bull trout population in Swan Lake is threatened (ESA-listed) by precipitous decline following the invasion of lake trout. Without action, long-term decline and potential extirpation of a very important Bull Trout Core Area is probable. This will have impacts to Bull Trout Recovery as well as to the Swan Lake Ecosystem of which the Swan River National wildlife Refuge is an important part. This research project to investigate Swan Lake spawning locations and habitat will be conducted in Swan Lake, Montana. The goal of this project is to identify and precisely map all of the â¿¿primaryâ¿¿ lake trout spawning sites. Objectives: 1) refine lake trout spawning locations in Swan Lake from previous studies. 2) Quantify habitat at lake trout spawning locations, and produce a digital map of all known spawning locations.
