This grant is for providing vital disaster reimbursement and assistance funds to eligible State Units on Aging (SUAs) and federally recognized Tribal Organizations that are currently receiving a grant under Title VI of the Older Americans Act (OAA). These crucial funds become available exclusively when the President declares a Major Disaster under the Robert T. Stafford Relief and Emergency Assistance Act, and are strictly limited to areas designated in the official disaster declaration. Prospective applicants are required to consult with ACL Regional staff prior to submitting a formal application, carefully discussing the amount of funds requested and providing a draft narrative justification to expedite the award process. Furthermore, it is strongly advised to coordinate with State and local Emergency Managers to ascertain other potential funding resources before seeking OAA assistance. All proposals must be submitted electronically.
