This grant from the Administration on Developmental Disabilities (ADD) is for the purpose of awarding five-year grants to designated University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD). Its aim is to support the administration and operation of these university-affiliated units in carrying out four core functions: interdisciplinary pre-service preparation and continuing education, community services (including training and technical assistance), research, and dissemination of information. The funding enables UCEDDs to address critical areas such as education, health, employment, and community supports, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities. Eligibility for this grant is restricted to three specific UCEDDs whose current funding will conclude in 2010: the University of South Florida, Vanderbilt University, and Texas A&M University.
