Description: | The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) announces an open competition for the administration of the FY 2013 Tunisia Community College Scholarship Program which will support study by current undergraduate students and young people wishing to improve vocational skills from underrepresented sectors and parts of Tunisia at accredited American community colleges throughout the United States. As part of the United States Government‟s Tunisia Scholarship Fund, the Tunisia Community College Scholarship Program provides quality educational study, leadership and professional skills development, practical professional experience, community engagement, and programming that builds mutual understanding and knowledge about American society and culture to underserved, non-elite Tunisian students, particularly women. Consortia of accredited U.S. community colleges and public and private non-profit organizations meeting the provisions described in Internal Revenue Code section 26 USC 501(c)(3) in the United States may submit proposals to cooperate with the Bureau in the administration and implementation of the FY 2013 Tunisia Community College Scholarship Program. Consortia of accredited U.S. community colleges and other combinations of multiple accredited community college campuses are encouraged to apply. The recipient organization will be responsible for the following aspects of the Program: recruitment, selection, and placement of Tunisian students for one academic year at accredited U.S. community colleges offering certificate programs in eligible fields of study; student travel to and from the United States; pre-departure orientation; enrichment programming; advising, monitoring, and support; pre-return activities; evaluation; and followup with program alumni. Support for this program is being provided from the FY 2012 Middle East Response Fund (MERF) carried over to FY 2013 for obligation. For planning purposes, the Bureau invites proposals from eligible organizations for a program at a total funding level of 3 approximately $4,625,000, pending availability of FY 2013 funds for this program. |
