This grant, offered by the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS), is for the purpose of supporting the State Justice Statistics Program for Statistical Analysis Centers (SJS-SAC) during fiscal year 2012. Since 1972, BJS has partially supported state and territorial governments in establishing and operating SACs. These centers are crucial for collecting, analyzing, and reporting crime and justice statistics to federal, state, and local governments, and for facilitating national data sharing. The SJS-SAC program aims to maintain and enhance each state’s capacity to coordinate statistical activities, conduct research on relevant criminal justice issues, and serve as a vital liaison for BJS in gathering data from state agencies, thereby developing justice information systems.
