Description: | The purpose of this project is to manage pest species (invasive plants and other non-plant pests) on lands administered by the BLM within Wyoming.
The activity to be undertaken through this project is in furtherance of the recipient¿s and BLM¿s mission by the providing the following benefits: 1. The control of invasive plant species is a vital part of ensuring conformance with the Six Rangeland Health Standards for BLM Wyoming in association with healthy rangelands. Invasive plants can negatively impact wildlife habitat, riparian zones, watersheds, and displace native plant and animal species, including threatened and endangered, and sensitive species, thereby adversely affecting hunting, fishing, and overall recreational opportunities. An additional concern is the impact of invasive plant infestations on agriculture and other resources on private and state lands. Non-plant pest species can damage native habitats by directly reducing available forage for wildlife and domestic animals. Outdoor recreational opportunities can also be impacted, reducing the quality of an outdoor experience or, in some cases, limiting human occupancy. Some pest species may also negatively impact agricultural commodities or human health. |
