Additional Information

Agency Name: Bureau of Land Management
Description: A. Project Background Information:

The Bureau of Land Management Wyoming State Office (BLM) seeks to engage with conservation corps entities in Wyoming and surrounding states to encourage youth involvement in outdoor resource management tasks and assist BLM in its overall mission of public land stewardship. The focus of this project will be primarily on Plant Conservation and Integrated Vegetation Management; usually conservation corps tasks will be in support of the national Seeds of Success Program and involve outdoor seed collection.

B. Project Objective:

This project will provide the BLM with a three-year framework for cooperation and coordination with entities who can recruit and administer youth (age 25 and under) conservation corps crews to promote conservation and restoration of public lands ecosystems, primarily by working with representatives of the Plant Conservation Program in the Renewable Resources Division. For example, in 2011 BLM will need several short-term (at least 80 hours per person) youth conservation corps labor crews to assist in native plant materials development work (primarily seed collection). Conservation Corps crews may also assist BLM staff with projects in support of such varied Programs as Wildlife, Fuels Management, and Recreation, because of the unpredictability in plant phenological timing.

C. Statement of Joint Objectives/Project Management Plan:
This agreement is made and entered into by the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management, Wyoming State Office (BLM), and the recipient for the purpose of providing:
1) temporary field labor assistance (e.g. seed collection) in support of BLM’s Plant Conservation Program, and
2) educational outdoor experience opportunities for youth.

If funded, the
