This grant, offered by the Bureau of Reclamation under CFDA 15.512, is for a study by the University of Washington to understand how food web pathways function for delta smelt and Chinook salmon in a restored marsh within the San Francisco Bay-Delta. With an estimated total of $150,000, including $75,000 from Reclamation in Fiscal Year 2013, the project aims to determine if the fish’s food resources originate from vegetated areas surrounding Liberty Island. The principal objectives involve conducting food web support analysis and identifying the organic matter sources that fuel these aquatic food webs. This non-competitive award highlights the government’s discretion in funding this specific research.
