This grant is for supporting investigator-initiated research aimed at partnering with communities to develop and rigorously evaluate new, innovative, or untested community-based strategies to effectively reduce overdose. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Injury Prevention and Control seeks proposals for interventions that prevent drug use initiation, reduce non-infectious harms from drug use, decrease stigma or other barriers to harm reduction or substance use disorder treatment, and enhance linkage to and retention in care. Research should specifically target groups disproportionately affected by overdose or at higher risk of adverse outcomes related to substance use, ensuring engagement with individuals who have lived experience with substance use.
