This grant is for empowering private, tax-exempt Fair Housing Enforcement Organizations (FHOs) and Qualified Fair Housing Organizations (QFHOs) to actively investigate and enforce alleged violations of the Fair Housing Act. Offered under the Fair Housing Initiative Programs, it comprises three key components: the General Component (PEI-M), the Mortgage Rescue Component (PEI-MRC), and a continuation of PEI-PB. Eligible applicants for PEI-M and PEI-MRC must possess proven experience in complaint intake, investigation, and fair housing testing, with specific experience levels required for FHOs and QFHOs. The PEI-MRC component additionally targets organizations with the capacity to address abusive mortgage practices within their communities. This initiative strengthens efforts to ensure fair housing access for all.
