This grant, Limited Interaction Targeted Epidemiology: Viral Suppression (LITE-VS), aims to fund research to establish large, digitally-maintained cohorts of people with HIV-1 (PWH) across the United States. A key focus is to ensure significant enrollment of individuals who have experienced prior gaps in HIV care or struggled with sustained viral suppression. The primary objective is to longitudinally track these cohorts, investigating the progression of HIV care engagement and viral suppression, alongside the temporal and multilevel factors influencing changes in care, adherence to antiretroviral therapy, and suppression rates. Researchers may also develop and test enhanced methods for participant screening, enrollment, and retention. Ultimately, these projects should generate critical insights to inform future interventions designed to promote consistent HIV care engagement and achieve sustained viral suppression, with the option to pilot digitally-delivered interventions.

Description: | The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to solicit applications from investigators to enroll large, digitally-maintained cohorts of people with HIV-1 (PWH) in the United States which employ sampling strategies that ensure meaningful enrollment of participants who report prior gaps in HIV care engagement and/or lack of sustained viral suppression (VS). The goal is to follow the research cohort over time to prospectively investigate trajectories of HIV care engagement and viral suppression, as well as the temporal antecedents and multilevel factors that drive changes in care engagement, antiretroviral adherence, and viral suppression. Researchers may test strategies for improved methods of screening, enrollment, and retention of cohort participants. Projects should seek to inform future interventions to promote sustained engagement in HIV care and sustained HIV viral suppression, and additionally have the option of testing digitally-delivered interventions toward that end. |
