This grant, part of the STATEMAP component, is for establishing crucial geologic frameworks in areas vital to individual States’ economic, social, or scientific well-being. The primary purpose is to address critical earth-science problems and meet state-specific needs for geologic-map information. State Geologists, in collaboration with a multi-representational State Mapping Advisory Committee, will determine mapping priorities. These priorities will focus on areas with multiple-issue or compelling single-issue needs, ensuring that mapping efforts directly contribute to resolving significant challenges. The grant aims to enhance foundational geologic understanding, supporting informed decision-making and sustainable development across various sectors within the States. This initiative underpins strategic resource management and public safety through targeted geologic mapping.
