Additional Information
Agency Name: | National Endowment for the Arts |
Description: | Background
The National Endowment for the Arts has a long history of working with other funders, both private and public, to support the participation of artists from the United States at international festivals and other special events abroad. Since 2004, this commitment has been carried out through USArtists International, a NEA initiative undertaken in partnership with a Regional Arts Organization. The participation of artists from the nonprofit sector offers a dynamic and diverse representation of U.S. cultural life that is quite different from the presentations of U.S. popular culture that are readily available internationally. By providing the opportunity for interaction with colleagues from many nations, participation also enhances the creative and professional development of artists from the United States. Scope of Work The Arts Endowment plans to award a Cooperative Agreement to a Regional Arts Organization to support USArtists International. This initiative will provide support for: 1) Artists and arts organizations from the United States invited to participate in international festivals or other significant cultural events outside the U.S. that offer exceptional opportunities for career development. 2) Special international exchange opportunities, identified by the Arts Endowment, that arise quickly and require a fast response. Such projects may involve artists and arts organizations from the U.S. or other countries, and may take place in the U.S. or abroad. |
