This grant is for the purpose of establishing a Data Coordination and Analysis Center (EDCAC) to support the ongoing Encyclopedia of DNA Elements (ENCODE) Project. The ENCODE and modENCODE initiatives have successfully cataloged significant functional elements within human and model organism genomes, which are vital for advancing basic biological knowledge and interpreting disease-mapping studies. The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) seeks applications to develop this essential center. The EDCAC will comprise two critical components: a Data Coordination component, responsible for developing, maintaining, and providing access to comprehensive ENCODE databases, and a Data Analysis component, tasked with coordinating and facilitating the integrative analysis of the vast datasets produced by the ENCODE Consortium.

Description: | The Encyclopedia of DNA Elements (ENCODE) and modENCODE projects have, over the past eight years, cataloged a significant fraction of the functional elements in the genomes of the human and three well-studied model organisms, and these catalogs are increasingly being used by the research community to expand on basic biological knowledge and to interpret the results of disease-mapping studies. The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) solicits applications to develop and implement an ENCODE Data Coordination and Analysis Center (EDCAC) as part of the continuation of the ENCODE Project. The EDCAC will have two components: (1) a Data Coordination (DC) component to develop, house, and maintain databases to track, store, and provide access to the data generated by the ENCODE Project, and (2) a Data Analysis (DA) component to coordinate and assist in the integrative analysis of data produced by the ENCODE Consortium. |
