This National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) Program Project (P01) grant is for establishing Early Psychosis Intervention Network (EPINET) scientific hubs. Its purpose is to support learning health care research within clinics providing evidence-based Coordinated Specialty Care (CSC) to individuals experiencing early stages of psychotic illness, defined as up to five years post-first episode. Each funded hub will connect multiple early psychosis service programs. This connectivity will be achieved through the EPINET Core Assessment Battery, collecting de-identified person-level data using informatics tools, and employing a unified methodology for data analysis. The goal is to rapidly disseminate promising research findings across the network to improve mental health services and outcomes.

Description: | The purpose of this NOFO is to seek Program Project (P01) applications from scientific hubs to support learning health care research in clinics offering evidence-based Coordinated Specialty Care (CSC) to persons in the early stages of psychotic illness. For this NOFO, early psychosis is defined as the period spanning the onset of an affective or non-affective psychotic disorder and up to 5 years following the first episode of psychosis. Each scientific hub will link multiple early psychosis service programs through (1) the EPINET Core Assessment Battery (CAB) of early psychosis clinical features, CSC services, and treatment outcomes; (2) informatics tools to collect de-identified, person-level data across sites; and (3) a unified approach for analyzing pooled data and disseminating promising findings rapidly across the network. |
