The National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) is offering this grant to stimulate innovative research into technologies that promise the greatest future impact for the pre-symptomatic detection and preventive treatment and management of mild cognitive impairment (MCI). This includes MCI that is age- or treatment-related, and particularly those occurring in the setting of Life Limiting Illnesses (LLI). The core purpose of this grant is to enable earlier identification and intervention before the development of clinical symptoms. It is anticipated that findings from this research will significantly improve treatment options and ultimately enhance the quality of life for individuals. The ultimate goal is to improve our ability to identify at-risk individuals and effectively prevent or delay further neurodegeneration.
