The National Park Service is offering this grant to fund six Great Lakes-Northern Forest Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit Projects. This grant is designed to improve the scientific foundation for managing public lands by providing high-quality scientific research, technical assistance, and education to resource managers. Selected projects span diverse areas, including historical climate trends, avian botulism pathways, lake bottom mapping, public engagement strategies, sediment toxicity assessment, and indigenous land use impacts. These interdisciplinary ecosystem studies leverage biological, physical, social, and cultural sciences to resolve resource problems across various scales. The National Park Service will be substantially involved in fulfilling the tasks and objectives of these funded projects.
