This grant is for the purpose of understanding the profound neurobiological changes caused by drug abuse and addiction. It aims to elucidate the mechanisms underlying these changes, particularly those occurring during chronic drug use, withdrawal, and relapse. Research funded by this grant will investigate how substance abuse alters brain structure and function, and how these alterations influence behavior. The ultimate goal is to identify novel targets for effective prevention and treatment interventions for drug addiction. Both basic and translational research, as well as clinical approaches, are welcome to contribute to this critical area of neuroscience.
