Agency Name: National Institutes of Health
Description: Purpose. This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) issued by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), National Institutes of Health (NIH) encourages innovative, multidisciplinary, interactive, and synergistic program project grant applications from institutions/organizations that propose to conduct research on reproductive, developmental, behavioral, social, and rehabilitative processes that determine the health or functioning of newborns, infants, children, adults, families, and populations. The purpose of the P01 mechanism is to encourage investigation of complex problems relevant to NlCHD’s mission and to facilitate economy of effort, space, and equipment. Under appropriate circumstances, the collaborative research effort of a program project can accelerate the acquisition of knowledge more effectively than a simple aggregate of research projects without thematic integration. Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the NIH Program Project (P01) grant mechanism. Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. Because the nature and scope of the proposed research will vary from application to application, it is anticipated that the size and duration of each award will also vary. The total amount awarded and the number of awards will depend upon the numbers, quality, duration, and costs of the applications received.
