This grant, offered by the NMFS-Sea Grant department, is for PhD students pursuing careers in the population dynamics of living marine resources. At least two fellowships are awarded annually to support research on developing and implementing quantitative methods for assessing marine resource status. Fellows will undertake thesis projects of public interest, directly relevant to the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), receiving expert guidance from NMFS mentors at participating Science Centers or Laboratories. This initiative aligns with NOAA’s mission to protect, restore, and manage coastal and ocean resources through ecosystem-based management, fostering critical advancements in marine science and conservation.
