This grant is for doctoral students pursuing careers in marine resource economics. The NMFS-Sea Grant Fellowship Program annually awards two new PhD fellowships to individuals dedicated to developing and implementing quantitative methods for assessing the economic aspects of living marine resource conservation and management. Recipients will undertake thesis research on topics of public interest directly relevant to the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS). Fellows will receive guidance from experienced NMFS mentors stationed at participating Science Centers or Laboratories. This initiative directly supports NOAA’s mission to “Protect, Restore and Manage the Use of Coastal and Ocean Resources Through Ecosystem-Based Management,” fostering expertise crucial for sustainable ocean resource stewardship.
