This grant is for the purpose of funding evaluations of programs designed to prevent and reduce girls’ delinquency and involvement in the juvenile justice system. The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) notes a dramatic increase in girls entering the juvenile justice system over the past two decades. This raises questions about the nature of girls’ delinquency and societal responses. A critical need exists to determine if effective programs and strategies are available to address this trend. Therefore, this solicitation aims to support grants that will document and measure the effectiveness of various delinquency prevention, intervention, and/or treatment programs in mitigating girls’ risk behavior and offending. This initiative is authorized by the Department of Justice Appropriations Act, 2010.
