Additional Information on Eligibility: Applicants are limited to national organizations. National organizations are defined as having an active program or programs with a financial relationship with affiliates in a majority of states. Applications submitted by national headquarter organizations are required to subaward 90% of the Federal grant funds to at least 75% of States. Individual subaward amounts are to be made for up to $500,000 per subaward.

Description: The U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention is pleased to announce that it is seeking applications for funding under the OJJDP FY 09 Recovery Act – National Youth Mentoring Programs with funding provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (“Recovery Act”). This solicitation invites applicants to propose initiatives ready for implementation that will assist in the development and maturity of community programs to provide mentoring services to populations that are underserved due to location, shortage of mentors, special physical or mental challenges of the targeted population, or other such situations identified by the community in need of mentoring services. Specifically, under this solicitation, the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention will make awards to support programs that have a national scope and national impact on combating juvenile delinquency, reducing the victimization of children, and improving the juvenile justice system through mentoring activities. This program furthers the Department’s mission by providing grants, cooperative agreements, and other assistance authorized by the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 2002.
