The Public Diplomacy Section of the United States Embassy in El Salvador is pleased to announce the call for FY2025 proposals to implement the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE), a global competition that provides resources to promote women’s social and economic empowerment.  By ensuring that women have the professional skills, knowledge, networks, and access to fully participate in the economy, AWE directly supports the National Strategy on Gender Equity and Equality.

The following organizations are eligible to apply:

Not-for-profit organizations, including think tanks and civil society/non-governmental organizations
Public and private educational institutions
Public International Organizations and Governmental institutions

Cost Sharing or Matching is not a requirement.

Other Eligibility Requirements
We recommend that all organizations have a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) issued via SAM.gov as well as a valid registration in SAM.gov. Please see Section D.3 for more information.
Applicants are only allowed to submit one proposal per organization. If more than one proposal is submitted from an organization, all proposals from that institution will be considered ineligible for funding. All proposals must be presented in English, accompanied by a detailed budget.

Overview: The Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) was established by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) in 2019 to empower women with the professional skills, knowledge, networks, and access necessary to launch or scale successful businesses. AWE cohorts, consisting of approximately 25-30 women, engage in both online and in-person sessions to learn core business skills such as strategic planning, marketing, and finance.
