The Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB), U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL, or the Department), announces the availability of approximately $12 million total costs (subject to the availability of federal funds) for one cooperative agreement to fund one technical assistance project that improves government systems for labor law compliance in Mexico. The project’s strategy for achieving this goal includes the development and launch of a comprehensive and sustainable training program for labor inspectors at the federal and state levels, improvements in strategic planning, administration, resource management of labor inspections, and establishing proper outreach and compliance initiatives. The project will focus on developing skills and competencies to apply to inspections in United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) priority sectors, in targeted states and with relevant supply chain actors. The project will aim to achieve the following outcomes: • Outcome 1: Improved enforcement of labor laws by federal and state labor inspectors in the target states in USMCA priority sectors. • Outcome 2: Improved administration of federal and state labor inspections in the USMCA priority sectors. • Outcome 3: Improved federal and state labor inspectors’ engagement with supply chain actors regarding labor law requirements in target states and USMCA priority sectors. The duration of the project will be a maximum of 4.5 years (54 months) from the effective date of the award. |
