This grant is for organizations seeking to advance religious freedom globally through targeted projects. The U.S. Department of State, Office of International Religious Freedom (J/IRF) announces an open competition, inviting applications that support critical tolerance building and advocacy efforts. The core purpose is to significantly increase respect and secure government protections for the fundamental religious freedom of specific vulnerable populations. This initiative focuses on Indigenous and Afro-descendant communities residing in the Western Hemisphere, alongside Indigenous communities found in South Asia. Successful proposals will demonstrate effective strategies to empower these communities, ensuring their right to freedom of religion or belief is upheld, practices are respected, and legal safeguards are strengthened, fostering environments of inclusivity.
