This grant, offered by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) under the North American Wetlands Conservation Act (NAWCA), is for supporting public-private partnerships undertaking vital conservation projects across the United States. Its primary purpose is to fund long-term protection, restoration, enhancement, and establishment of crucial wetland and associated upland habitats specifically benefiting migratory bird populations. This competitive, matching grants program requires a 1:1 non-federal match, emphasizing collaborative efforts. It explicitly excludes research funding. By facilitating these initiatives, the program directly contributes to the Department of the Interior (DOI) and FWS mission of safeguarding the nation’s natural resources, ensuring land and water conservation, and expanding outdoor recreation and access opportunities for all.
