Additional Information

Agency Name: Geological Survey
Description: The USGS Wetland and Aquatic Research Center (WARC) is offering a funding opportunity for research on ecological data collection and modeling for Hurricane Sandy coastal resiliency living shoreline restoration projects along the Northeast Atlantic coast. The project will collect data related to coastal resilience benefits such as: sediment deposition, and wave and energy reduction. Information will be obtained through project visits, modeling, and other methods. This project will contribute to the assessment of this new technique’s wave and energy reduction benefits. The proposed integration of shore-term field measurements with long-term numerical modeling into a comprehensive monitoring and assessment framework is novel and is urgently needed. This project will be an interdisciplinary research in collaboration among scientists, engineers, and resource managers from various organizations involved in the living shoreline restoration activities at the three selected projects in this research
