The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is seeking public input on a draft Funding Opportunity Announcement (dFOA) for Accident Tolerant Fuels (ATFs). This grant is for the development and initial testing of light water reactor (LWR) fuel concepts featuring enhanced accident tolerance. The DOE conducted a workshop to present its strategic thinking and gather feedback on the dFOA’s objectives and processes. While this is a draft and not an application solicitation, the DOE encourages industry and interested parties to submit comments, questions, or suggestions. Input received by the April 9, 2012, deadline will inform the final ATF Funding Opportunity Announcement, anticipated later this Spring 2012, and an FAQ document will be issued.
