Among eligible applicants listed above, the applicant agency or organization must serve unique populations who reside in Alaska or Hawaii and also demonstrate experience and expertise in developing and implementing job training programs and workforce development activities to serve such populations.

Description: The Employment and Training Administration (ETA), U.S. Department of Labor (DOL, or the Department, or we), announces the availability of approximately $497,000 in grant funds authorized by Section 166(k) of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) for the Indian and Native American Employment and Training Program – Assistance to Unique Populations in Alaska and Hawaii.

This program is intended to support entities with demonstrated experience and expertise in developing and implementing employment and training programs for the unique populations who reside in Alaska or Hawaii. This funding opportunity will focus on developing programs designed to strengthen learning opportunities for Native Hawaiian and/or Alaska Native youth and young adults ages 14 to 24 to develop the skills needed to be prepared for jobs in high-growth, in-demand occupations and industries.

The base period of performance is 12 months with an anticipated start date of April 1, 2017. Grant awards will be made for an initial base period of one year, with up to two additional option years contingent on the availability of funds and satisfactory progress towards achieving the goals and objectives of the grant. This performance period includes all necessary implementation and start-up activities.
