The Bureau of International Labor Affairs, U.S. Department of Labor announces the availability of approximately $3 million total costs for one cooperative agreement to fund a technical assistance project in Mexico to improve working conditions in the Mexican automotive supply chain, with a focus on small and medium size manufacturers. For the purposes of this FOA, the definition of supply chain is the manufacturing of auto parts, including major components and sub-components of a vehicle, and vehicle assembly plants. This FOA does not intend to cover activities related to the production of raw, or near-raw, materials required for outfitting the exteriors and interiors of vehicles or activities, or sales, distribution, and retail of assembled vehicles. The project’s strategy for achieving this goal is to engage employers to proactively adopt labor practices consistent with Mexico’s 2017 constitutional reform on labor justice and 2019 labor law reform, and to address existing working condition challenges. The project-level objective is employer compliance with these new labor requirements and improved working conditions in the Mexican automotive supply chain. The duration of the project(s) will be a maximum of four years (48 months) from the effective date of the award. |
