The U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor (DRL) announces an open competition for organizations interested in eradicating descent-based slavery and discrimination towards enslaved and formerly enslaved persons in the Sahel region of West Africa. This grant is for organizations dedicated to advancing human rights and social justice. Two distinct projects will be awarded under this initiative: one specifically focusing on Mauritania, and another broader regional project requiring engagement in two or more countries within the Sahel. This opportunity seeks to fund impactful interventions that combat historical injustices and promote equality. Applicants wishing to pursue both Mauritania-specific and regional opportunities must submit separate, complete applications for each project, detailing their proposed strategies and expected outcomes.
