Description: The Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement (PM/WRA) in the U.S. Department of State?s Bureau of Political-Military Affairs is pleased to announce a competitive process for fiscal year 2012 funding of a community-based demining project in the village of Kajaki, Helmand Province, Afghanistan. PM/WRA invites interested applicants with experience in humanitarian demining operations in Helmand Province, Afghanistan to submit their proposals by February 24, 2012. Pending fiscal year 2012 appropriations, the Office anticipates awarding grants of up to $1,000,000 US Dollars. U.S.-based and foreign non-profit and non-governmental organizations (NGO), and public international organizations (PIO), and institutions of higher education are encouraged to apply by submitting a proposal. All proposals must be submitted via www.grantsolutions.gov OR www.grants.gov by 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Friday, February 24, 2012. Following a competitive review panel, one proposal will be approved for funding.
