Agency Name: U.S. Mission to Kyrgyzstan
Description:

Based on funding availability, projects awarded under the Public Diplomacy Grants program will build societal resilience and thus strengthen democracy and stability in the Kyrgyz Republic.

Key audiences may include youth (14-28 years old), entrepreneurs/innovators, journalists, women, other marginalized groups, civil society organizations, and/or non-profit organizations – not only in the capital area, but in more remote and rural areas.

As the Kyrgyz Republic approaches 30 years of independence – and 30 years of bilateral relations with the United States – it continues to enjoy robust civil society and human capital, yet faces significant challenges. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted structural weaknesses in the economy, taxing not only the health care system, but IT infrastructure and general economic resilience. In October 2020 a political crisis occurred that reflected deep divisions in Kyrgyz society, largely split along a rural/urban divide that is mirrored by primary use of the Kyrgyz/Russian languages. The Public Affairs Section (PAS) of U.S. Embassy Bishkek seeks to build societal resilience and thus strengthen democracy and stability. Thus, PAS is pleased to announce that funding may be available to address these challenges as specified below through the Embassy’s Public Diplomacy Grants program.

Applicants should pay close attention to the Public Affairs Section’s priorities and goals, and target audiences when developing their proposals. Due to the volume of applicants and inquiries, PAS does not accept letters of intent, concept papers, or requests for meetings prior to application.
