Additional Information

Agency Name: U.S. Mission to Iraq
Description: The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad invites eligible organizations to submit proposals for one assistance award to provide administrative services for a U.S. Government educational initiative: Iraq-U.S. Journalism Exchange Program. Public and private non-profit organizations meeting the provisions described in Internal Revenue Code section 26 USC 501(c)(3) may submit proposals to provide a three-week, U.S.-based journalism exchange program during the period from September 2013 – August 2014 for ten Iraqi journalists. The administrative services would include placement, travel and logistics, program design and implementation, interpretation, monitoring and evaluation. The program activities will focus on deepening the participants’ understanding of key policy initiatives in U.S.-Iraq relations, anti-corruption, accountability and transparency in government, and the role of the press in a democratic society. The program should expose participants to America’s diversity both in the professional and social spheres, provide visits to at least three U.S. cities (including Washington, DC), and include the opportunity for dialogue and/or mentoring with professional American journalists, ideally with a background in international affairs. The total amount of funding for this one-year award will be up to $200,000, pending the availability of funds.
