The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is offering this cooperative agreement to support ongoing efforts to conserve a list of priority ‘Focal Species’ designated by its Migratory Bird Program. This grant, totaling $77,500, is for maintaining progress on established conservation goals for these species. The primary purpose is to show improved populations of a subset of 139 identified priority species, which often require further research due to limited biological information or additional monitoring to determine current status and trends. Since 2005, the Migratory Bird Program has aimed to demonstrate population improvements for a subset of these species every five years. This assistance will contribute to achieving those critical conservation objectives.

The objective of the Focal Species Program was to show improved populations of a subset of these species every five years. Many of these species require research due to a lack of basic biological information. Others are currently being monitored by require additional efforts to establish current population status or trends. The period of performance is from date of award through September 30, 2014. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed assistance based upon Departmental Manual 505 DM 2, paragraph 2.14(b)(2) is solely within the discretion of the Government.
