Description: | The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service anticipates awarding up to $48,000 for one study. The anticipated start date for the study would be January 5, 2016 and the project period would be through October 31, 2016. Funding would be provided through a grant agreement. The Service intends to issue this as a sole source award due to the unique qualifications of the applicant.
A study to assess contributing areas of groundwater seepage springs located at two sites in Washington D.C. and one site in Montgomery County, Maryland, where there are federally listed and candidate species of amphipods (Stygobromus sp). Assessment of the hydrogeology of these areas will assist us in better assessing threats for these species. Funding will be provided by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service through the Research Grants program, which is authorized by the Fish and Wildlife Act of 1956, as amended, 16 U.S.C. (742f (a)(4); Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act, as amended, 16 U.S.C. 661.; Fish and Wildlife Improvement Act of 1978, as amended (16 U.S.C. 753), Land and Water Conservation Fund Act of 1965, as amended (16 U.S.C. 4601-4 through 11), Endangered Species Act of 1973 (16 U.S.C. 1531-1543). |
