Additional Information

Agency Name:: Geological Survey
Description:: The Western Ecological Research Center of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is offering a funding opportunity to one Member of the Cooperative Ecosystems Studies Unit (CESU) Program. The project is titled Mapping the physical properties of the surface layer with remote sensing and spectroscopic field measurements for habitat modeling in the Mojave Desert Ecoregion.

The goal of this research effort is to provide a suite of critical environmental GIS layers that describe the physical properties of the landscape for use in species distribution models and habitat-use analyses throughout the Mojave Desert Ecoregion. These products can be used for developing spatially-explicit habitat models for multiple species within the Mojave Desert. In particular, the GIS layers developed in this project will be used to improve ongoing research to assess the relationship between different types of habitat and the physiological health of organisms occupying those habitats.
